So, I recommend that shoppers do a little more to stretch their dollars so they can spread more cheer. Here are some tips:Watch for deals on gift cards. Many retailers issue crazy discounts on gift cards during the holidays. This is a fantastic way to stretch your dollars. Hint: check out warehouses like Costco and Sam’s Club for some serious discounts on gift cards.Be more meaningful with your gifts. Many people will feel the pinch this year, so think of ways to be generous to others while also helping fulfill their unique needs.Don’t rely solely on retail stores for your gifts. Solicit the help of your children for creative gifting ideas. A trip to Hobby Lobby or other craft stores can make for some terrific holiday memories and fun gifts!Don’t feel like you’re letting people down if you can’t afford a lot this year—there are many other ways to share holiday cheer. Singing Christmas carols is always an option even if you don’t sing that well—the louder, the better!
